Synectics has worked closely with bodybuilders to overcome teething problems in the introduction of European Whole Vehicle Test Approval (EWVTA). For example, the inclusion of flank cameras on the new vehicle made it too wide (over 2m) and illegal under EWVTA. Synectics worked closely with body-builders to find a solution to the problem. The solution was to reclassify the flank cameras as a driver aid, in much the same way as the PSV's external front mirrors. Synectics has developed a dashboard switch which allows the driver to switch the CCTV in-cab monitor to the flank cameras.  In this way body builders are able to meet the EWVTA with flank CCTV cameras.
