System Capabilities Synectics Surveillance Technology combines the most advanced technology now available from specialist manufacturers of lenses, cameras, positioning control and communications links and provides High Definition Long Range Surveillance Solutions. Synectics' systems are able to provide continuous observation over long distances without alerting the target. This is achieved by combining the best long focal length and zoom lenses with sensitive camera sensors, accurate positioning platforms, with bearers for returning the video signal to the central command studio, and cable, fibre-optic or radio links for remote control. Sensors may be mounted on fixed LAN-based platforms such as buildings or towers, on moving vehicles, or on aircraft, particularly helicopters or RPVs. The power of the lenses and sensitivity of the cameras means that targets can be viewed many kilometres away from the sensors in light conditions that vary from bright sunlight to total darkness. Synectics specifies, builds and installs complete systems to meet operational requirements. Each system will be designed to meet a particular requirement. It might consist of several tactically located camera sensors, each with lenses equipped for their particular tasks, mounted on remotely controlled platforms and feeding their signals back to a central Control Studio with several viewing positions. Each operator would have full control over all aspects of their picture via control consoles which are individually constructed with the requisite viewing screens and controls. The central control studio might include recording instruments, illuminated map boards to show the areas covered by the surveillance units, motion detector equipment and other specialised instruments. In addition, the control studio may also incorporate analysis and image enhancement equipment. Pictures can be identity tagged with date and time and the systems are able to incorporate error correction and video encryption. Key Features
Typical Systems Ground-Based A typical Synectics Surveillance Technology ground-based system might have a number of surveillance units with remote controlled cameras and lenses of the appropriate type for the mission mounted on directors. Communications would include video bearer channels for returning the video and telemetry channels for control of the Units. The communications links can be digital over cable, RF or Fibre Optic, to cover large areas. Communications nodes and repeaters could be set up In a central control studio allowing a number of operators, each at an individual viewing station, to select their pictures from the surveillance units without mutual interference and recording as necessary. Proportional joystick control of azimuth, elevation, zoom and focus gives instantaneous smooth, accurate response. Preset default values can be programmed into the controllers. Airborne In a Synectics Surveillance technology airborne system the surveillance units are mounted on stabilised platforms carried by a helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft or RPV. Full on-board control, remote control or auto tracking are available. Modern stabilised platform technology has enabled airborne systems to become flexible and economic alternatives to the ground-based alternative in applications where access to the terrain is limited or where large areas must be surveyed. Airborne systems have been proved to be particularly effective to military and internal security operations. The imagery is transmitted over microwave links into the communications network, the ground stations having specialised antennas which can be omni-directional, steerable or auto-tracking.
