Synectics Provides Process Control CCTV
Synectics Industrial Systems has completed a high profile contract with Cegelec, to supply and commission a CCTV solution in the ASAB and BAB gas plants for Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd (GASCO) in the United Arab Emirates under their project titled “ABICS”. GASCO is the operating company in Abu Dhabi responsible for processing onshore natural gas and associated gas from onshore oil production.

The installation included the industry acclaimed ATEX EExd certified COEX™ FECH/3 PTZ camera stations.  The durable stainless steel COEX™ FECH/3 camera station is ideally suited for monitoring the harsh desert conditions under which the production process at GASCO’s ASAB and BAB gas processing plants operate.

The sites at ASAB and BAB have been supplied with a fibre optic cable network which will allow an operator to view activity throughout the site from many PC based operator workstations and at the control room.  All site activity is recorded onto digital video recording equipment.  This system can be programmed to show video from any camera on any monitor either manually or via automatic presets.

The new BAB CCTV system provided by Synectics has been integrated into the existing Habshan CCTV system meaning that the cameras can also be viewed, controlled and recorded via the Habshan control equipment allowing full surveillance capability.  It will also link into other systems such as Fire & Gas Alarm Systems.

The CCTV system was successfully commissioned and made fully operational by Synectics’ engineers ensuring smooth integration with the existing CCTV (non-Synectics) system.

*The Bab Plant, along with the Asab, Bu Hasa and Ruwais Plants, is one of GASCO's original plants. Commissioned in 1981, it has a single NGL extraction train processing 150 MMSCFD of associated gas collected from ADCO's operations in the neighboring oil field. Unlike other GASCO NGL Extraction Plants at Asab and Bu Hasa, Bab has sour gas treating facilities using Di-Glycol Amine (DGA) solvent and acid gas recovery system. Acid gas is piped to neighboring Habshan Gas Plant for converting in to liquid sulphur. The produced NGL is piped to GASCO Ruwais fractionation plant, while the residual gas is compressed and injected into the network after sweetening.
