Extreme environment CCTV specialist, Synectics Industrial Systems, has completed a high-tech Ex CCTV system installation for Shell, aboard their Sarawak oil platform situated off the Malaysian coast. Synectics was chosen to supply the system by Emerson due to its vast industry experience in extreme environment CCTV monitoring, and the production of a highly competitive tender bid.
Synectics liaised heavily with the operators of the Shell Sarawak platform to realise the ultimate system specification for their requirements. Camera positions were chosen to comprehensively cover all operational decks and the busy landing area, this provides a constant health and safety monitor in these sensitive areas. At a total cost of USD 400,000, the installation includes Synectics’ industry standard EExd certified COEXTM FECH camera housings that are specifically developed for this type of hazardous area application. The camera housings are equipped with EExd certified FEPT hazardous area pan & tilt units, which enable full pan, tilt and zoom camera functionality. Robust, versatile and cost-effective, the FECH camera head is ideal for monitoring the production process at the Sarawak oil platform as well as most types of hazardous environments, proven in installations around the world including petrochemical plants, offshore platforms and other marine environments. |
